I rely on my bike as a mobile personal trainer and unfortunately had a puncture in a very busy week. Balfe's fixed this and replaced my break pads on the spot and it only took about 15-20 minutes. They were super friendly and also checked that my front wheel was fine before I left as I was in an accident the week before. Would highly recommend for quick fixes and will have a look into their prices when my bike needs a service next!
I can't recommend Balfe's Bikes highly enough. I chose the bike I wanted online, then asked them to order it in for me. It cost a few quid more than it would have online, but it was MORE than worth it given the level of service I received from Ben who works there. Firstly, he advised me on the right frame size, and when I ordered the bike he kept me up to date by phone. Then when it arrived he built it and adjusted it to fit me, and helped me choose a lock and set of lights based on the conditions I'd be riding it in – crucial for a novice. It was hard to fit the front light properly as my bike has a basket, so he kept the bike in overnight so he could find a solution, eventually coming up with an innovative fix I wouldn't have been able to put in place myself. I'm so glad I paid a few extra quid as I now feel confident that my bike is perfect for me, and so glad - not having ridden since childhood - that I wasn't made to feel like an idiot for all the questions I wanted to ask. There are some things you can buy online but for me, bikes aren't one of them. Do yourself a favour and get to Balfe's for some trustworthy, expert advice.

Great independent bike shop, family run by Maurice Burton and his wife Mia. Friendly, reasonably priced and expert opinions from the former GB cyclist. Great selection of bikes, kit, clothing, accessories, services and advice. Really needs far more recognition as one of London's best bike shops
I trust these guys implicitly, Maurice used to Race and he's a master mechanic. My partner and I bought both our bikes from here and they couldn't have been more helpful. After also having some bad experiences elsewhere I'll never be going anywhere else. Best bike shop in London without a doubt.

So friendly and helpful. Took my Brompton after an accident. Fixed for a really reasonable price and was really fast. Such a knowledgeable and friendly owner. Thanks!
Excellent shop. I stumbled upon this gem because I live locally but no longer go anywhere else! The shop is well stocked with reasonable prices- but what makes it different is the advice and friendly attitude of the staff. I know little to nothing about bike maintenance so when something goes wrong I'm left scratching my head. However, they have always been unfailingly helpful and sorted my bike out in no time. The bigger purchases I have made recently (getting a Brompton) went so smoothly because I was given ample time to consider the purchase and never felt rushed or like I was being 'sold' to. Give it a try.

Great experience with these guys. Great prices and they know their stuff. So good to have my bike back in action
Use Blue Door Cycles for all my bike servicing and repairs because they are reliably the best around. They are the essence of what a local bike shop should be. They are honest and very good value for money; i.e. they go out of their way to save you money rather than charging extra for unnecessary work. They always ask when the repairs need to be completed and actually try to do so rather than doing them at their own convenience like many other places. They are friendly and approachable, you don't feel silly even asking minor/trivial things. I recently damaged the steel forks on my cyclocross. Matt searched high and low for a suitable replacement, kept me informed throughout and eventually sourced the right part from outside of their normal suppliers. I am sure many other places would have just told me that they couldn't repair it. Even though there are local bike shops closer to where I live (and not up quite so steep a hill), I will go out of my way to use Blue Door Cycles.
