The Half Moon Pub

10 Half Moon Ln, Herne Hill, London SE24 9HU, UK – 020 7616 5276

Fab beer garden on a sunny day... eclectic clientele, nice chilled atmosphere. We had the burgers which were FANTASTIC... a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Also, for old school dry cider drinkers like me, the Cornish Orchards is absolutely delicious... sharp and refreshing without a hint of rotten apple... 5 thumbs up! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

We had an amazing stay at the Half Moon Pub on the weekend, the weather made it even better. The atmosphere at the pub/hotel was amazing, food was delicious, room was beautiful with special little touches, staff were friendly. Overall made my stay in London very special. Would love to come back again and bring the kids. The train station was a stone's throw away.

The Hope Pub

49 Norwood High St, West Norwood, London SE27 9JS, UK – 0844 664 2035

Friendly local. Family pub with lovely garden area. Landlords are very friendly and happy. Good food too.

A good old fashioned pub with friendly staff and locals. Great to sit down, drink beer and chat.

The Lordship Pub

211 Lordship Ln, East Dulwich, London SE22 8HA, UK – 020 8299 2068

We had our wedding reception at the Lordship in April and it was absolutely brilliant!! Andrew let us decorate and make the pub our own and him and his team were always accommodating to our suggestions. The staff are a total credit and they could not of been more helpful. They spent all day making sure everyone had a great time and kept the day running smoothly and seamlessly with no fuss. The food was second to none - the team made sure everyone had plenty without compromising on quality and the scotch eggs are still getting mentioned! We have had comments from many guests about the great atmosphere and lovely team and I can safely say The Lordship made the day better than imagined!

Excellent food and friendly atmosphere, lighting also makes it quite intimate at night - enough space between the tables so one doesn't feel crowded.

The Clink Brixton

HMP Brixton, Jebb Ave, London SW2 5XF, UK – 020 8678 9007

Just got back from The Clink in Brixton. Fantastic experience. Check in staff were helpful and informative. Staff in training were attentive, pleasant and very helpful, good atmosphere. Wish I could name staff. Starter, main course and dessert served. Presentation was excellent and each course left you looking forward to the next (ordered Apple Charlotte twice!!). Very good value for money whilst contributing to an excellent cause and will be going back again and again.

I'm giving The Clink a 4 star based on the whole experience. What a great idea to have this restaurant to help inmates in preparation of their release date. Extremely interesting being inside the prison and being able to talk to the people and learn about their experience in the programme. Food-wise it wasn't great. Portions were quite small and a bit bland. The best by far were the desserts and macaroons. Very very good. I would recommend everybody to visit The Clink and help spread the word about it's existence.

Chinese Restaurants serving the West Norwood area

Mrs Wong's Chinese Restaurant

179 Streatham High Rd, Streatham, London SW16 6EG, UK – 020 8769 0126

Excellent Chinese food. It's had a change of ownership recently and although the food is not the 6 star of 5 it used to be, still well worth a visit. Much better than most of the Chinese restaurants I've been to in the past. Including Chinatown

Woks Cooking Halal Chinese Restaurant

1453 London Rd, London SW16 4AQ, UK – 020 8679 8998

Once food at this place was great. But now food is below acceptable quality and it's not the same vibe in this place. Staff are great but when food is cooked and you are having second thoughts you have to think twice about coming back or not. Some days you can get tasty food but most days it's the same story.

Good food but takes a little while to get it

Chi Oriental

14 Westow Hill, London SE19 1RX, UK – 020 8761 6195

We came on a Friday night just because our favourite place was full and I was very suspicious because of Chi's poor rating on Google maps. Turned out it is a very nice place with new beautiful interior and very helpful and friendly staff. The food was great too, my main dish was so huge I couldn't finish it and had to take it with me. We would definitely come back.

Very attentive staff. A nice airy feel to place with Tranquil Asian music. Sadly the food wasnโ€™t as good as the service. My Prawn Kung Po had zero chilli. Disappointing as I was looking forward to the usual spicy dish.

Indian Restaurants and takeaways in or near West Norwood

The Indian Dining Club

244 Gipsy Rd, West Norwood, London SE27 9RB, UK – 020 8670 7588

Exquisite Indian food and the service is amazing but it come with a bit of higher price.

My favourite restaurant! I have been coming here and ordering take away for years and it never disappoints. Lovely wine selection too! And their summer specials are great!

Eastern Cuisine Indian Takeaway London

138 Gipsy Hill, London SE19 1PW, UK – 020 8761 6688

You beauty! Best Indian in London. Honestly I Love this place...we came here for a work dinner recently and I had to return tonight. Cute atmosphere, lovely staff and authentic, fresh food. Give it a go aye!

Ordered from them recently via just eat. Food was delivered around the estimated time. I had a lamb Byriani which was tastey, lots of meat and not too hot. Would definitely recommend this. I am on the fence with the vegetable side dish the Byriani came with...it lacked something which didn't make it as tastey as I'd of hoped.

Resham Restaurant

1538-1540 London Rd, Streatham, London SW16 4EU, UK – 020 8764 4007

One of the best Indian restaurants I've visited especially for the price, they offer great food with good service I've been here a numerous amount of times and I can't complain the staff are very friendly and happy to help. Even when they're busy they still try to accommodate visitors. I highly recommend their Paneer it's tastes really good and one of items they have on the right menu. They're dessert menu could be improved however as it is a bit lackluster. But a nice experience.

You will find THE REAL TASTE OF INDIAN FOOD excellent food bit expensive but worth to visit.

Italian Pasta and Pizza Restaurants

Manuel's Italian and Mediterranean Restaurant and Bar

129 Gipsy Hill, West Norwood, London SE19 1QS, UK – 020 8670 1843

This place is so good it makes me want to take stars off all my other reviews. It's definitely the best food in or near Crystal Palace. I wasn't expecting it to be that good but you know you're on to a good thing when there are too many specials to remember including three fishes of the day and venison. The beef ragu from the kids' menu is also better than any ragu I can remember: not too much tomato, velvety texture from the meat and delicious. Superb scallops, half a lobster in the pasta, rich, chocolatey gravy and wine jelly with the venison. Maybe a bit slow considering how busy it was but they are great with kids from toddlers to teenagers too.

Had dinner there last night and watched the free Abba tribute act. The singers were excellent and the food was superb. I enjoyed melanzana parmigianna followed by chicken Milanese with homemade spaghetti. My wife had the fish stew followed by fresh salmon. This was washed down with an excellent bottle of Nobile Montepulciano. Homemade lemon tart with a glass of dessert wine completed a brilliant evening out.

Ristorante Olivelli

127 Lordship Ln, East Dulwich, London SE22 8HU, UK – 020 8693 7034

We hired the upstairs function room for a family lunch following our wedding reception. The staff, especially the manager George, were so attentive and willing to help that it really helped make our day special. They listened to all our requests, even setting up the room exactly as we requested. Both the food and service were great. We'll definitely be back!

Olivelli is a nice restaurant with a decent selection of good tipical italian dishes. They use fresh italian produce, full of flavours. They have a few vegetarian dishes, but they could do with at least an extra main option. The service was quite quick and pleasant. The wine list was small but decent and reasonably priced. Food price on the other hand is on the high side and the 12.5% gratuity added to the bill, it's a bit hefty. We had 2 cocktail, one starter each, a starter size main, one large and a small glass of wine and one only espresso for ยฃ83. Nice, but over priced.

Rocca

75-79 Dulwich Village, Dulwich, London SE21 7BJ, UK – 020 8299 6333

Lovely Italian restaurant, a relative newcomer to the village - it has been well laid out with clearly a lot spent on the decor. Would agree with some of the reviews on here that the food has been of a variable quality. Not great to not have consistency with at least some of the dishes. Always had a good experience when I have come nonetheless and prices were reasonable. There is outdoor seating which is absolutely packed on the weekends and often on Friday evenings (mainly in the summer!).

Good pizza and pasta venue in heart of Dulwich village. Popular but not usually hard to get a table. Better food than the big chains and good service. Always lots of families there. Also do take away. Toilets upstairs are quite impressive.

Vegetarian or Vegan Restaurants

Wholemeal Cafe

1 Shrubbery Rd, London SW16 2AS, UK – 020 8769 2423

Vegan cafe. Home cooked dishes, full of flavour and very nutritious. Perfect place for anybody with specific dietary requirements. They do a discount on the price of main dishes at lunch time, not sure if this is week days only or at the weekends also I shall find out next time I visit and update this information. Yes, definitely going back again!

The Wholefood Cafe really is a superb and homely vegetarian & vegan restaurant with a great menu and friendly staff. Theyโ€™ve also provided me with delicious food for parties that everyone loved and have no problem coming up with ideas to cater for those with specific food allergies or requirements. Well worth a visit!!

Umana Yana

294 Croxted Rd, Herne Hill, London SE24 9DA, UK – 020 8671 8227

Hands down, the best patties and roti in London. The woman who runs the shop is lovely too!

Curried goat was fantastic, perfectly spiced. Chickpea and spinach curry was also excellent. Good portion sizes. Friendly service too.
